Cigdem graduated from Ankara Cebeci Atatürk Vocational School of Health where her main focus was nursing in 1997. She graduated third place from Baskent University, Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Nursing and Health Services in 2003. She began her career as an intensive care nurse at Hacettepe University Hospital Coronary Care Unit from January 2004 to November 2006. She earned MSN and PhD degrees in Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing from Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences in 2006 and 2012. Cigdem was the recipient of the International Postdoctoral Fellowship in Nursing for 2014 sponsored jointly by International Network for Doctoral Education in Nursing (INDEN) and Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). In this context, she was a visiting academic for 3 months at University Queensland School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work to learn about simulation-based interprofessional education. During her visit, she visited simulation centers in Brisbane, Melbourne and Nambour and attended simulation based obstetric team training programs and training of trainers programs. Currently she works as a faculty at Hacettepe University Faculty of Nursing Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing and Graduate School of Health Sciences Department of Simulation in Health Sciences.
