Dr. Korkmaz graduated from the Hacettepe University School of Nursing in 1998. She completed her Master of Science degree in 2002 in the Fundamentals of Nursing Program at the Institute of Health Sciences, Hacettepe University, and earned her PhD in 2009 with her doctoral dissertation entitled “The Effect of Topical Negative Pressure Therapy on the Healing of Stage III and IV Pressure Ulcers.” Between 1998 and 2002, Dr. Korkmaz worked as a clinical nurse in general internal medicine and intensive care units at two private healthcare institutions in Ankara. In 2002, she began her academic career as a Research Assistant in the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing, Hacettepe University, where she currently serves as a faculty member. As a visiting scholar, Dr. Korkmaz conducted academic work at Medizinische Hochschule Hannover, Germany, in 2006, and at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA, between 2014 and 2015, where she focused on nursing informatics and data mining. Since 2015, she has served as an instructor in national training programs for Healthcare Quality Evaluators under the Directorate of Healthcare Quality, Accreditation, and Employee Rights of the Turkish Ministry of Health, delivering education on “Patient Care Plans” and “Pressure Injury Risk Assessment.” Since 2016, she has also been actively serving as an official Healthcare Quality Evaluator within the same directorate. Since 2018, Dr. Korkmaz has been involved in the “Mobile Integration of Electronic Health Data” Project at Hacettepe University Hospitals, where she has worked on the structuring and optimization of nursing care–related data within electronic systems. Since 2024, she has been serving as a Product Manager and Consultant at OneDose Health. In addition, she completed a second Master’s degree in Health Informatics at the Hacettepe University Institute of Informatics in 2020. Her primary areas of expertise include nursing informatics; pressure injuries (risk assessment and monitoring); nursing care plans (including patient care plan components, standardized care plan utilization, and the analysis and strengthening of nursing care–related data within electronic health record systems); nursing education; and nursing ethics. Dr. Korkmaz has authored and co-authored numerous national and international publications in her areas of specialization.
