Fatma Uslu Şahan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Ankara University Faculty of Health Sciences in 2010. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 2013 and her PhD in 2018 in Obstetrics and Gynecologic Nursing at Hacettepe University. Between 2013 and 2020, she worked as a research assistant at Hacettepe University’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecologic Nursing. She was appointed as an Assistant Professor in 2020 and received her Associate Professor title in July 2024. She currently holds the positions of Associate Professor and Vice Dean at Hacettepe University Faculty of Nursing, having been appointed as Vice Dean in May 2021.

Before starting her academic career, she worked for two years as a maternity and gynecologic oncology nurse at Dr. Zekai Tahir Burak Women’s Health Research and Education Hospital under the Turkish Ministry of Health. From June to October 2015, she was a visiting scholar at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing, where she received a certificate in “Palliative Care and Interprofessional Simulation-Based Team Training with Clinical Simulation.” Between 2019 and 2020, she served as the Research Assistant Representative in the University Senate and Administrative Board at Hacettepe University.

Her academic and clinical interests focus on perinatology, gynecologic oncology, palliative care nursing, simulation-based nursing education, and interprofessional education. Fatma Uslu Şahan is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Turkish Nurses Association, the Turkish Oncology Nursing Society (Gynecologic Oncology Nursing Subgroups), the Turkish Women's Health Nursing Association, and the Palliative Care Network.
