She completed her primary and secondary education in Balıkesir. She graduated from Validebağ Anatolian Health Vocational High School in 2003 and from Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing in 2008. She received her master degree in Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences Nursing Services Administration Program in 2011 and and her doctorate from the Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences Fundamentals of Nursing in 2016. In 2006, she participated as an observer in a 13-week summer program at Sotiria Hospital in Athens, Greece, as part of the Leonardo da Vinci Training Program. She also was an observer at Hannover Medical School, Germany for four months within the scope of the Erasmus Traineeship Mobility Program. Between January 2005 and June 2007, she worked at the Kırıkkale Provincial Ambulance Service Command and Control Center; between June 2007 and December 2010, at Ankara Provincial Ambulance Service Station No. 6; and between January 2011 and November 2011, at Balıkesir Atatürk State Hospital, in the Pediatric Diseases Unit, as a nurse, training nurse, and supervisor nurse. From November 2011 to February 2019, Başaran-Açıl worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Nursing Management at Hacettepe University Faculty of Nursing. Since February 2019, she has been working as an Assistant Professor in the same department. She is also pursuing a Master's degree in Health Policy, Economics, and Management (in English) at Ankara University Institute of Health Sciences.
